Synopsis "The Comparative Number of the Saved and the Lost: What Does the Catholic Church Really Teach?"

There are two basic opinions. The first is that the majority of Adult Catholics go do hell. The second is that the majority of adult Catholics go to heaven. There are other more radical opinions, such as not quite no one goes to hell. Another is that all eventually go to heaven, even those in hell. These last two opinions must be rejected as against Catholic doctrine as we will soon see. Saint Alphonsus says: "The common opinion is that the greater part of adults are lost." And so our main question should be what do I need to do to be saved. And the majority of this work will be devoted to that all important question, because what we must do is make sure we are saved. As for other people, we must pray and work for their salvation, knowing that all can be saved, if only they do what it takes to be saved. We shall begin with an incident, that led a priest into heresy followed by the minority opinion, which is held by a few modern authors, none of whom have been canonized as saints. Then we will proceed to the main question: What must I do to be saved? This will be followed by a presentation of the majority position. Following this we will consider a short history of the controversy. And finally, several sermons, which will hopefully scare the hell out of us. That is motivate us to do what it takes to make sure of our own election. 1 As we move through this book, let us make notes to inspire us to become a saint, for only saints go to heaven. This much is certain. This work considers the work of Father Walsh, which bears the same title and explains why he went into heresy.
