Synopsis "operation snowcap"

In its continuing efforts to combat the importation of illegal drugs into the United States, the Department of Defense (DOD) has hired experts in the field of counter-narcotics operations to seek out drug trafficking groups and assist foreign governments in eradicating the threat. Major General Sam Perkins, assigned directly to the Undersecretary of Defense, chairs Operation Snowcap, headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland. He has selected retired Navy Chief Petty Officer Larry Richter to lead his team of personnel who will travel and engage the enemy in all aspects of modern combat and technology. Chief Richter has an extensive knowledge of the mission at hand, having been involved in it while on active duty. Additionally, he has selected members from both military and civilian organizations, whose expertise in various fields make them valuable assets to the cohesiveness of the Operation and who are now solely employed by the DOD. Although professionally trained in modern warfare and intelligence-gathering operations, the team experiences the highs and lows associated with such an enormous undertaking. The mission leads them through encounters with narco-traffickers, the CIA, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and the Colombian military, not to forget the everyday challenges associated with "Mother Nature." Extensive operations from the Colombian mainland to the United States and the Russian Republic present the reader with both factual and technical aspects of the modem narco-trafficking world. Although some of the techniques are still under development, the future use by both sides of this war will be forthcoming -- and the results have yet to be seen....
