His style has been acclaimed for its ability to capture the mystical essence of superheroes, mainly collaborating with Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Additionally, he is the co-creator of the "Astro City" series, which explores the superhero myth.

Among his most notable works is "Marvels" (1994), a miniseries in collaboration with Kurt Busiek that offers a human perspective of the Marvel universe. Another notable work is "Kingdom Come" (1996), co-written with Mark Waid, which presents a dystopian future in the DC universe.
