Jim Shooter
Jim Shooter (born September 27, 1951) is an American writer, editor, and entrepreneur, widely recognized for his influential work in the comic book industry, especially as Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics during one of its most successful periods. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Shooter began working professionally at the age of 13, writing stories for Legion of Super-Heroes at DC Comics. His early talent led him to work with editors like Mort Weisinger and E. Nelson Bridwell, becoming a prominent figure in the 60s.

In 1978, he was named Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics. Under his leadership, the publisher experienced a period of expansion and creative stability, launching legendary titles like Secret Wars, Marvel's first major crossover saga. He was also responsible for implementing strict editorial policies that improved timeliness and narrative cohesion in comics, although his authoritarian style generated controversy among some creators.

Shooter also played a significant role in creating characters and series, and after leaving Marvel in 1987, he founded Valiant Comics in the 90s, another influential publisher. His entrepreneurial and narrative vision consolidates him as a key figure in the modern evolution of American comics.
