J. José Alviar
J. José Alviar (Manila, 1955) is a Filipino theologian specialized in dogmatic theology, with a particular interest in eschatology and inculturation. Trained as a chemical engineer, he was ordained a priest and earned his doctorate in theology at the University of Navarra, where he currently serves as a professor and deputy director of the Department of Dogmatic Theology. His academic focus is on exploring the ultimate mysteries from a personalist and relational perspective.

Among his most notable works are Eschatology (2004), a manual that reflects on the final destiny of man and the world; The Time of the Spirit: Towards a Pneumatological Theology (2022), which addresses the action of the Holy Spirit in the history of salvation; and Christian Conversion and Evangelization (2008), co-edited with Juan Alonso García, which examines the evangelizing mission of the Church. These publications, edited by EUNSA, are key references in contemporary theological education.
