Hil Malatino
Hil Malatino is an assistant professor of women's, gender, and sexuality studies, and lead faculty at the Rock Ethics Institute at Pennsylvania State University. Malatino's research focuses on trans and intersex studies, critical sexuality studies, transnational feminisms, disability studies, and medical ethics to theorize how experiences of violence, trauma, and resilience unfold in intersex, trans, and gender non-conforming lives. Malatino's current work places decolonial feminist thought, affect theory, and trans studies in dialogue to investigate the inversion of popular and academic narratives of gender transition in neocolonial understandings of gender embodiment. Their first book was Queer Embodiment: Monstrosity, Medical Violence, and Intersex Experience (University of Nebraska Press, 2019)
