Gustavo Bueno
Gustavo Bueno Martínez (1924–2016) was a prominent Spanish philosopher, founder of the philosophical materialism system. He developed his academic career mainly at the University of Oviedo, where he served as a professor of Philosophy for several decades. His thought is characterized by a rigorous critique of idealism and a defense of a structured materialist ontology.
Among his most influential works are Materialist Essays (1972), The Divine Animal (1985), The Myth of Culture (1996), Spain Facing Europe (2000), and The Myth of the Left (2003). In 2016, he published The Transcendental Ego, where he delves into his gnoseological theory from a critical perspective on Kantian idealism. His legacy continues through the Gustavo Bueno Foundation and the Oviedo School, which disseminate and develop his philosophical thought.
