Barbara Kingsolver
Novelist, essayist, and American poet, Barbara Kingsolver was born in Annapolis, Maryland, on April 8, 1955. She grew up in Kentucky and spent a brief period of time in Congo during her childhood.
Kingsolver studied Biology at DePauw University and the University of Arizona. Later, she began working as a freelance writer before dedicating herself to writing novels. In 2000, she created the Bellwether Prize with the goal of promoting literature in favor of social change.
In her literary work, she has written about social justice, biodiversity, and the relationship between people and their environment. Among her works are titles such as The Poisonwood Bible, The Lacuna (Women's Fiction Prize 2010), and Demon Copperhead (Pulitzer Prize 2023 along with Hernán Díaz's Trust and Women's Fiction Prize 2023)
