The Covid-19 pandemic threatened to destroy Jennifer's carefully re-constructed life and her persona.She had dubbed herself a Joy Warrior in a little book she wrote to describe her journey to physical and spiritual wellness from the close brush with death she experienced prior to 2018. All too soon in 2020, she had to really strengthen her invisible suit of armor when isolation and a killer virus threatened the world. But the virus was just one curveball that the year lobbed at Jennifer's family. First, there was the murder of George Floyd, which this bastion of a mixed-race family took quite personally. And then there was the small tumor growing in her usually invincible husband's brain.Using instructive metaphors, a lot of dry wit, and a huge love for mankind, this dynamo of a woman teaches us all ways to persevere in the face of insurmountable obstacles. Not only does Jennifer persist and deflect all the Covid curveballs; she takes a public and vocal stand and fights some age-old prejudices and injustice. This woman of white privilege suddenly discovers what her children and husband have always feared as she fights the status quo in her middle-class neighborhood.
