At seven years old, I was placed into the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The records documented what the professionals saw - a withdrawn, shy, emotionally troubled child. What no one had the language to name was the truth: an undiagnosed neurodivergent - autistic and ADHD - child in a chronic stress response, born into unaddressed intergenerational trauma, living beneath the weight of unseen toxic stress and unrecognized spiritual blindness.

For the next two decades, every system meant to help me - foster care, healthcare, education, the justice system - treated the fruit without ever addressing the roots. And I kept surviving, kept questioning, kept swimming toward something I could not yet name.

This is the story of what happens when the veil finally lifts.
