Josep Bargalló i Valls (born on October 3, 1958 in Torredembarra, Tarragona) is a philologist, writer, and Spanish politician. With a degree in Catalan Philology from the University of Barcelona, he has combined his political career with a prominent role in the literary and educational fields. He has held various political positions, including the Minister of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya and First Minister.

In the literary field, Bargalló has focused his work on the history and popular culture of Catalonia. Among his most notable works are "Manual de mètrica i versificació catalanes" (2007), an essential tool for the study of Catalan poetry, and "La colla Xiquets de Tarragona i la tradició castellera a la ciutat" (1990), which explores the tradition of castells in Tarragona. His contribution to Catalan literature and culture has been significant, although there is no record of him receiving literary awards for his publications.
