One summer in California...A sweet job assignment where I can meet new people and enjoy myself...Along comes Cara. It'll be a fun, carefree summer, no strings attached...I won't fall for this beautiful single mother...These are the lies I told myself until they became truths I didn't want to accept. Truths I needed desperately to hold onto once I was told I was being sent overseas. Until one disastrous day that changed my life forever. Army Sergeant Riley Forrester, desperate to get out of his Colorado civilian job and back into the uniform, jumps at the chance to take a summer-long TDY assignment in California. Young and newly divorced himself, he looks forward to spending a summer of both work and play. What he wasn't expecting was to not only fall for a beautiful single mother named Cara Reid, whose green eyes have him completely addicted at first glance, but to also receive orders that take him well outside the country. While Riley knows he has to leave Cara behind, he tells himself their fling is just for the summer and he'll let her go once he leaves so she can move on with her life. But Cara wouldn't be forgotten that easily. She had seeped her way into his dreams and his heart, and breaking his addiction to her mind and body after things go horribly wrong on his deployment will be the hardest thing he'll ever be ever called to do.
