Synopsis "Think and Grow Rich"

2023 Reprint of 1944 Edition.  Think and Grow Rich is based on Hills earlier work The Law of Success, and said to be the result of more than twenty years of study of many individuals who had amassed personal fortunes.  Hill studied their habits and drew some 16 laws to be applied to achieve success. Think and Grow Rich condenses them, providing the reader with 13 principles in the form of a Philosophy of Achievement.  The book maintains that desire, faith, and persistence can propel one to great heights if one can suppress negative thoughts and focus on long-term goals. The 13 steps listed in the book are:Desire, Faith, Autosuggestion, Specialized Knowledge, Imagination, Organized Planning,  Decision, Persistence, Power of the Master Mind,  The Mystery of Sex Transmutation, The Subconscious Mind, The Brain,  The Sixth SenseWhile the books title and much of the text concerns increasing income, the author insists that his philosophy can help people succeed in any line of work to do and be anything they can imagine. First published in 1937 during the Great Depression, the book by Hills death in 1970 had sold more than 20 million copies. By 2015 more than 100 million copies had been sold worldwide.

Oliver Napoleon Hill was born on October 26, 1883 in Wise County, Virginia, United States. He grew up in a humble family and faced a difficult childhood after the death of his mother, but his perseverance and ambition led him to become one of the most influential authors in the self-help and personal development genre of the 20th century.

Hill began his career as a local reporter and, according to his own account, was tasked with interviewing Andrew Carnegie, who supposedly entrusted him with the principles of success. Although the veracity of this encounter has been questioned, Hill built his philosophy from interviews and observations of figures such as Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and John D. Rockefeller. His life was marked by ups and downs, including business failures, accusations of fraud, and personal reinventions, but he always maintained his message of self-improvement and positive thinking.

Hill's style combines anecdotes, practical principles, and an optimistic view of human potential, advocating the importance of mindset, perseverance, and collaboration (the "Master Mind") as keys to success.

His legacy continues thanks to the work of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, a non-profit educational institution based in Virginia, the author's hometown, which has hundreds of thousands of followers on social media and aims to make the world "a better place to live".
