Rachel Hawkins is an American writer born in 1979 in Virginia and raised in Alabama. She is known for her young adult fantasy novels and contemporary thrillers. Her most notable series in the youth field is Hex Hall, consisting of Hex Hall: Condemnation (2010), Hex Hall: Challenge (2011), and Hex Hall: Spellbound (2012). She has also ventured into young adult romance with the Rebel Belle trilogy (2014–2016) and the Royals series, which includes Royals: Prince Charming (2018) and Her Royal Highness (2019)

In her phase as an author of thrillers for adults, she has published works such as The Wife Upstairs (2021), Reckless Girls (2022), Tragedy at Villa Rosato (2023), and The Heiress (2024). Additionally, she writes paranormal romantic comedies under the pseudonym Erin Sterling, including The Ex Hex (2021) and The Kiss Curse (2022). Hawkins has been recognized for her ability to combine humor, mystery, and supernatural elements in her works.
