Stephen R. Covey (Salt Lake City, Utah, October 24, 1932 – Idaho Falls, July 16, 2012) was one of the most influential educators, writers, and speakers in leadership development and personal growth. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Utah, an MBA from Harvard, and a PhD in Religious Education from Brigham Young University, where he also taught. Covey was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various leadership roles within the organization. His most iconic work, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (1989), revolutionized business literature by consolidating principles of proactivity, vision, prioritization, and synergy, and has sold over 25 million copies in 52 languages. He also published other influential titles such as First Things First, Principle-Centered Leadership, The 8th Habit, and The Speed of Trust.

Recognized as one of the 25 most influential Americans by Time magazine in 1996, Covey received ten honorary doctorates and the Fatherhood Award from the National Fatherhood Initiative, among other distinctions. James C. Collins is an American business consultant, as well as a writer and speaker on business management.

Collins began his research and teaching career at Stanford University's School of Business, where he received the Distinguished Teaching Award in 1992. Three years later, he founded a management research lab in Boulder, Colorado, where he now conducts various research projects and also teaches executives. Additionally, Collins has been a senior executive at CNN International. He has also worked with various social institutions, such as the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, the Girl Scouts of the USA, or for the United States Marine Corps.
