In 1865 America's Civil War finally ended, stopping the bloodshed and division of the North and South. Shortly after the surrender was signed, a letter of commendation was delivered to an unsung hero at a Massachusetts farmhouse. Tragically, this hero did not live long enough to reap the benefits of this commendation.Nearly a century later, the farmhouse, rechristened the Barn Swallow Inn, has been converted into a horse-friendly bed & breakfast by new owners Reene Anderson and Lissa Martin.
