Synopsis "Rocks, Structures and Geodynamics in the Geospace of the Kola Superdeep Borehole"

The Kola Superdeep Borehole (SG-3) is a unique research project that occupies a special place in the global study of the deep structures of the Earth's crystalline crust. The project required the use of new drilling technologies and the joint efforts of research teams from Russia, Germany, France, the United States, and other countries. The borehole was drilled in the northeastern Baltic Shield on the Kola Peninsula. It reached a depth of 12,262 meters, setting a record for penetration into the Earth's interior. During the research, new, previously unknown phenomena were discovered in crystalline rocks. A three-dimensional structural-anisotropic palaeogeodynamic model of the SG-3 massif is presented. A model for changes in the properties and state of rocks of the upper, middle, and lower continental crust from the surface to a depth of ~40 km has been developed.
