Rilla matures during the war years, learning to endure hard work and loneliness, and the death of her beloved brother Walter (Walter is widely accepted to be a fictional version of John McCrae, the Canadian soldier who composed "In Flanders Fields").New notes based on the latest research about Canada in World War I show that Montgomery's analysis of war was surprisingly accurate. (1874-1942) Canadian writer. Worked as a teacher in various island schools and as a journalist for regional newspapers. Studied literature at Dalhousie University for two years. In 1908, she published her first novel featuring Anne. This was followed by several titles, covering the adolescence, youth, and maturity of the protagonist and the Emily Starr series. She also published collections of short stories, poetry, and an autobiography in which similarities and differences between the life of the writer and those of her heroines are noted. Today, her work is the subject of research, conferences, and tributes around the world.
