Synopsis "Record of Events in Xingjing: The Most Death Number Occurred: Investigation in Over a Hundred Countys in the Hardest Hit Area During the Great Leap"

In the autumn of 1959, Xingjing county launched a violent requisition campaign against "private property" and applied "on-site maturing, on-site harvesting, on-site threshing grain, and on-site requisitioning." In that year, the county's total grain output is 12.5 million Kg, but they said their output is 50 million Kg. So the nation requisitioned 13.5 million Kg, and the proportion of requisition is 107.72%. The actual population of the county is 96 thousand before this campaign, and 50 thousand people were starved to death after this campaign. This book has recorded memories of 199 survivors from 23 People's Communes. For those 199 survivors, 890 people in their family died in the massacre; for 6 groups with totally 5750 people, 3175 people died; for 68 groups with totally 13097 people, 7241 people died. Which means the highest death rate happened in this county in the China Great Famine.
