Synopsis "Puritanical: A Memoir of the Near Future (Part I)"

It's the near future and Max Adams is a newly unemployed journalist. Losing his job for writing a piece he thought fairly innocuous, yet proved too controversial for a world that now cared about hurt feelings above all else, and where everything and anything could be deemed offensive. Encouraged by his young, ambitious and somewhat opportunistic girlfriend, Max sets out to truly become the controversial figure his colleagues accused him of being. He makes strange allies with a drag performer turned transgender activist, who has also fallen afoul of her peers for daring to criticize Islam, and pointing out the rights and freedoms they were surrendering in the name of political correctness. Their story and their journeys become intertwined as the world forces them to ever more desperate measures in order to keep challenging the whims and dictates of ever expanding, and increasingly totalitarian government. A latter day Winston Smith for a latter day 1984, Puritanical is a novel that examines the disturbing potential outcome of a world that voluntarily surrenders its freedoms.
