En 1982, tras la guerra entre Argentina y Gran Bretaña por las islas Malvinas, el ejército inglés ordenó al oficial Cardozo que identificara a los soldados argentinos fallecidos en ese territorio y diseñara un cementerio para albergarlos. Los resultados de su trabajo llegaron al gobierno argentino, que no los hizo públicos ni los dio a conocer a los familiares de los caídos, de modo que estos permanecieron sin identificar. Este libro narra los esfuerzos, exitosos y recientes, por restituir una memoria opacada por la inacción institucional, el orgullo nacionalista y la sombra de la dictadura.

Leila Guerriero (Argentina, 1967) is a journalist. Her work is published in various media outlets across Latin America and Spain: La Nación and Rolling Stone, from Argentina; El País, from Spain; Gatopardo, from Mexico, and El Mercurio, from Chile, among others. She is the editor for Latin America of the Mexican magazine Gatopardo. She published the books Los suicidas del fin del mundo, Frutos extraños and, at Anagrama, Una historia sencilla, Zona de obras, Plano americano, Opus Gelber. Portrait of a Pianist, La otra guerra and La llamada. In 2010, her text "El rastro en los huesos", published in El País and Gatopardo, received the CEMEX+FNPI award. Some of her books have been translated into English, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Swedish, and Polish.
