In diesem Buch wird eine Analyse der Beziehungen zwischen der Niederschlagsvariabilität in der Republik Kongo und der atmosphärischen und ozeanischen Dynamik vorgenommen. Es werden drei Arten von Indizes verwendet: Niederschlagsindizes (Nord-Kongo-Index, Zentral-Kongo-Index, Süd-Kongo-Index), ozeanische Indizes: AMO (Atlantic Multi-decennal Oscillation), NAO (North Atlantic Oscillation), SOI (Southern Oscillation Index) und Nino3_4; atmosphärische Indizes (Geopotential bei 1000 hPa). Die Entwicklung der jährlichen und saisonalen Niederschläge zeigt einen signifikanten Abwärtstrend ab 1980. Parametrische und nicht-parametrische Tests (Mann-Kendall, Pettitt, Buishand, Hubert) bestätigen das Jahr 1970 als das Jahr, in dem die Zeitreihen des Niederschlags brechen. Es lassen sich zwei gro e Perioden unterscheiden: 1950-1970 (feucht) und 1971-2005 (trocken). Die kanonischen Korrelationen zwischen den Niederschlagsindizes, den Ozeanindizes und den atmosphärischen Indizes auf jährlicher und saisonaler Ebene zeigen einen relativ starken Zusammenhang, der sich in signifikanten Korrelationen materialisiert.
