Mantak Chia, born in 1944 in Thailand, is a renowned Taoist master, instructor, and writer specialized in internal energy practices and holistic well-being. From an early age, he studied Buddhist techniques and martial arts such as Muay Thai, tai chi chuan, and kung-fu. His training was enriched under the guidance of Yi Eng (White Cloud), a hermit from the Dragon's Gate sect of the Quanzhen Taoist school, who taught him a complete Taoist training system and authorized him to teach and heal. To better understand the physiological mechanisms underlying the theory of healing energy, Chia studied anatomy and Western medical science for two years.

Among his most notable works are Chi Self-Massage: the Taoist Way of Rejuvenation (1990), The Multi-Orgasmic Man: Sexual Secrets Every Man Should Know (1997), and Healing Light of the Tao: Foundational Practices to Awaken Chi Energy (2000). These books, focused on the development of internal energy and overall health, have been translated into several languages, including Spanish, and have contributed to the spread of Taoist practices in the West.
