This work focuses on the influence of migration-related experiences of separation during early child development on later mental illness. It is a secondary statistical evaluation of 89 anamnesis reports of female patients of Turkish origin who were seen for diagnosis at the Institut für Psychotherapie e.V. during the period from 1997 to 2006. Since the number of cases is rather limited it is an overview with the character of a prospective study. We found that it was mainly transgenerational influence that decided whether and to what extent migration-specific stress factors could turn into pathogenic stress factors.
