Some cities disappear. The people who loved them never do. When engineer Jonah Carter begins questioning the quiet town of Blackwater, he notices things no one else seems willing to see. The streets appear untouched by time. Residents repeat familiar routines. Records change without explanation. And beneath the town lies evidence that Blackwater should not exist at all. Eighty years earlier, the city was destroyed during the war. Yet its people continue living inside a world created from memory by Edwin Harper, a frightened boy who could never bear to forget those he lost. Joined by a librarian haunted by fading memories, a soldier searching for his forgotten past, and a woman whose own history has been erased, Jonah begins uncovering the truth hidden beneath Blackwater. But the illusion is weakening. As the real city begins breaking through, Jonah must decide whether exposing the truth will free Blackwater's residents or destroy the only home they have left. Memories Beneath the City is an emotional mystery about grief, sacrifice, friendship, and the extraordinary power of being remembered. If remembering someone could keep them alive, would you ever let them go?Some cities disappear. The people who loved them never do.
