Serope Kalpakjian fue un ingeniero y académico destacado en el campo de la ingeniería mecánica y de manufactura, reconocido por su extensa labor docente en el Illinois Institute of Technology, donde se desempeñó durante casi cuatro décadas hasta alcanzar el rango de profesor emérito.
