Synopsis "La Sombra sobre Innsmouth y otros relatos (in Spanish)"

“La sombra sobre Innsmouth” es una novela corta del escritor norteamericano H. P. Lovecraft (1890 -1937), escrita en 1931 y publicada en forma íntegra en 1936. Un hombre decide visitar un pueblo llamado Innsmouth, donde unos seres extraños, mitad peces y mitad hombres, visitan la ciudad durante las noches trayendo prosperidad a cambio de un alto precio. El hombre decide investigar gobernado por una curiosidad inexplicable y lleva su búsqueda hasta sus últimas consecuencias. Las otras historias de este volumen, “El modelo de Pickman”, “Hipnos” y “El Intruso”, exploran temas más cercanos a la literatura gótica de Edgar Allan Poe, de la cual Lovecraft era ferviente admirador, donde el misterio tiene connotaciones sobrenaturales, místicas y personales.

Howard Phillips Lovecraft (Providence, August 20, 1890-Providence, March 15, 1937) better known as H. P. Lovecraft, was an American writer, author of stories and novels of horror and science fiction.

He is considered a great innovator of the horror story, to which he contributed his own mythology —the Cthulhu Mythos—, developed in collaboration with other authors, currently in force.

His work constitutes a classic of cosmic horror, a narrative line that deviates from traditional supernatural horror stories —satanism, ghosts—, including elements of science fiction such as, for example, alien races, time travel, or the existence of other dimensions.
