La philosophie camerounaise est vivante, dynamique et ouvre des perspectives insoupçonnées. On peut facilement reconnaître quatre écoles philosophiques au Cameroun, que conduisent quatre fondateurs.L'école de Pierre Meinrad Hebga qui fait la part belle aux perspectives de l'École de Francfort et affirme la complexité (Robert Ndebi Biya, Pius Ondoua, Jean Bertrand Amougou).L'école de Marcien Towa affirme, pour sa part, la voie ouverte par les philosophes des Lumières et toute la modernité philosophique (Nkolo Foé, Charles Romain Mbele, Lucien Ayissi, Ndzomo Mole).Se distingue aussi l'école de Fabien Eboussi Boulaga et ses déclinaisons postmodernes (Achille Mbembe et Jean Godfroy Bidima).L'école de Njoh-Mouelle reste dans la logique des Lumières, mais suit tout de même la voix/voie bergsonienne. Son représentant éminent est Emile Kenmogne qui s'appuie beaucoup sur l'oeuvre de Hebga.Penseur solitaire, Hubert Mono Ndjana est promoteur du Djoutché.
