Synopsis "I Samuel: A Priest, a Prophet and a King"

The history of Israel described by the book of I Samuel details the period between the rule of the judges and the golden age of Israel under David and Solomon. During this period the last judge Samuel combines the office of prophet, priest, and judge. When Israel rejects him for a king like all the other nations, he is sent to make the choice of the first king Saul. Yet when this king fails to serve the LORD as he ought, Samuel must choose the boy David in defiance of the jealous king. This books expounds the history of Samuel, Saul, and David: the last judge, the failed king, and the king of God's choice.
