Eduardo Torres Arancivia is a historian from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, holds a master's degree in Latin American History from the Graduate School, and is a doctoral candidate in the Andean Studies Program at that institution. His research has focused on the viceregal political culture from the 16th to the 18th century, and on the history of authoritarianism in Peru. He has given lectures at universities and prestigious cultural institutions in his country. In 2004, he won the Franklin Pease G. Y. Award; and in 2007 and 2009, the PUCP National Award (essay category). He is currently a professor at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences, the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, and the University of San Ignacio de Loyola. He has published Court of Viceroys: The Surroundings of Power in 17th Century Peru (2006), Searching for a King: Authoritarianism in the History of Peru, 16th-21st Centuries (2007), and The Lost Chord: Essays on the Musical Experience from Peru (2010)
