Paul-François Groussac fue un escritor, historiador, crítico literario y bibliotecario franco-argentino, nacido en Toulouse en 1848 y radicado en Argentina desde su juventud. Se convirtió en una figura central de la vida intelectual del país, especialmente por su larga gestión como director de la Biblioteca Nacional entre 1885 y 1929. Su influencia fue decisiva en la formación del campo cultural argentino, destacando por su estilo riguroso, su erudición y un carácter crítico afilado que lo volvió tan respetado como polémico.

Entre sus obras más relevantes se encuentran La Biblioteca y Anales de la Biblioteca, junto a títulos como Estudios de historia argentina, Ensayo histórico sobre el Tucumán y Fruto vedado. También es reconocido por su aporte temprano al cuento policial con “La pesquisa”. Su escritura combina precisión histórica con una prosa elegante, consolidándolo como un referente clave en la construcción del pensamiento crítico y literario en Argentina.
