Crónica periodística del bombardeo de la población bizkaina de Gernika, y de algunos acontecimientos previos y posteriores. Este reportaje periodístico fue publicado en abril de 1958 por una revista de amplia difusión en Venezuela y, posteriormente, editado como un folleto independiente. El bombardeo de Guernica (Operación Rügen) fue un ataque aéreo realizado sobre esta población el 26 de abril de 1937, en el transcurso de la Guerra Civil Española, por parte de la Legión Cóndor alemana y la Aviación Legionaria italiana, que combatían en favor de los sublevados contra el gobierno de la Segunda República Española. Las estimaciones actuales de víctimas cifran los fallecidos en un rango que abarca de los 120 a los 300 muertos, 126 según el estudio más reciente y exhaustivo. La repercusión internacional que alcanzó este bombardeo, unido a su utilización propagandística, ha hecho que sea una masacre mundialmente conocida y considerada como un icono antibélico.
