Synopsis "El Arte Decorativo de hoy (in Spanish)"

Colección: Arquitectura Edición crítica en castellano del libro que Le Corbusier publicó en 1925, y al que posteriormente añadió un prefacio en la edición de 1959, titulado originalmente L'art decoratif d´aujourd´hui. El libro recopila una serie de artículos publicados originalmente en la revista L´Esprit Nouveau, del mismo modo que había hecho anteriormente con Vers une Architecture. En este caso el libro trata sobre temas variados relativos a la actividad creativa y su relación con laEncuadernación: Rústica arquitectura, que es en definitiva la expresión artística total. El libro aparece en 1925 con motivo de la Exposición de las Artes Decorativas de París. Le Corbusier adivina lo que en ella va a ocurrir, los desastres que allí se van a presentar, y hace una propuesta radical que alcanzará una importancia definitiva. Esta propuesta se materializa en el texto del libro y en el proyecto del Pabellón de L'Esprit Nouveau que Le Corbusier construye en aquella exposición y que de alguna manera supone el auténtico alumbramiento de la arquitectura moderna.

Le Corbusier, pseudonym of Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris (1887–1965), was an influential architect, urban planner, painter, and Franco-Swiss theorist, considered one of the fathers of modern architecture. His literary work focuses on architecture, urban planning, and functionalist aesthetics. Among his most notable books are Towards a New Architecture (Vers une architecture, 1923), Urbanism (Urbanisme, 1925), The Decorative Art of Today (L’Art décoratif d’aujourd’hui, 1925) and The Modulor (1948), where he presents his system of proportions based on the human scale.

Le Corbusier received numerous accolades for his contributions to architecture and urban planning, including the Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects (1953) and the Gold Medal from the American Institute of Architects. Additionally, 17 of his architectural works were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 2016, highlighting his global impact on the modern movement.
