Jean-Jacques Sempé (1932–2022) was a renowned French illustrator and cartoonist, famous for his delicate, humorous, and deeply human style. He gained international fame as the illustrator of Little Nicholas, a series of children's books written by René Goscinny that tenderly and humorously depict the school and family life of a French child.
