El chucu-chucu es un término onomatopéyico con el que se denominó a la música tropical bailable colombiana producida durante los años 60 y 70, en Medellín, Colombia, época en la que el desarrollo de la industria discográfica fue exponencial. Hoy se notan esfuerzos, tanto artísticos como académicos, por reivindicar el sentido y valor de esta propuesta musical, tanto en Colombia como en el exterior. El presente libro apoya dichos esfuerzos desde una perspectiva crítica, evaluando los procesos que permitieron su aparición, auge y declive, dentro de contextos socio-culturales y decisiones políticas e ideológicas.

Juan Diego Parra Valencia is a Colombian philosopher, literature specialist, and musician. He works as a teacher and researcher at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the Metropolitan Technological Institute (ITM) in Medellín. His academic work covers areas such as philosophy, aesthetics, art, semiotics, cinema, and music. In 2014, he received the Simón Bolívar National Journalism Award for the documentary report "When chucu-chucu dressed up in tails".

Among his most notable publications are "David Lynch and the becoming cinema of philosophy" (2016), "Anatomy of the real: Image, sign and thought" (2021), co-authored with Josep María Català Domènech, and "Echoes of Eco: Semioesthetic Approaches to the Thought of Umberto Eco" (2021). These works, belonging to the genre of academic essay, explore intersections between philosophy, art, and communication.
