Francisco Gutiérrez Sanín is an anthropologist with a master's and doctorate in Political Science, professor at the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations of the National University of Colombia. Columnist for El Espectador. Visiting professor at the London School of Economics, Yale, and the Sorbonne, among other universities.
He has published in international journals such as Politics and Society, Social Indicators Research, Journal of Peace Research, and Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, among others, and has carried out comparative projects with various national and international entities. Author of ¿Lo que el viento se llevó? (2007), about the changes in the Colombian political system over the last half-century; El orangután con sacoleva (2014), about democracy and repression in Colombia between 1910 and 2010; La destrucción de una República (2017), where he explores the rise and fall of the so-called Liberal Republic, a period of Colombian political life that began in 1930, and ¿Un nuevo ciclo de la guerra en Colombia?, in which he questions the precarious implementation of the Peace Agreement with the FARC and the consequences of non-compliance with what was agreed.
