Este libro aborda la metodología cualitativa 2.0 presentado los nuevos métodos de investigación, pero sin dejar de lado las preguntas clásicas de las ciencias sociales. No se trata de un manual con pasos predeterminados ni una receta sino de reflexiones dirigidas a investigadoras e investigadores de “carne y hueso”. Tampoco es un libro a favor de un método sobre otro, por el contrario, afirma que si bien los lenguajes entre lo cualitativo y cuantitativo son diferentes no son excluyentes. A través de cinco ensayos se trae a colación de manera crítica las nuevas herramientas, así como nuevas preguntas, que están reinventando y afianzando la investigación cualitativa, en paralelo, se habla de los inevitables retos metodológicos y prácticos que están surgiendo de cara a las transformaciones del contexto actual.

Francisco Gutiérrez Sanín is an anthropologist with a master's and doctorate in Political Science, professor at the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations of the National University of Colombia. Columnist for El Espectador. Visiting professor at the London School of Economics, Yale, and the Sorbonne, among other universities.

He has published in international journals such as Politics and Society, Social Indicators Research, Journal of Peace Research, and Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, among others, and has carried out comparative projects with various national and international entities. Author of ¿Lo que el viento se llevó? (2007), about the changes in the Colombian political system over the last half-century; El orangután con sacoleva (2014), about democracy and repression in Colombia between 1910 and 2010; La destrucción de una República (2017), where he explores the rise and fall of the so-called Liberal Republic, a period of Colombian political life that began in 1930, and ¿Un nuevo ciclo de la guerra en Colombia?, in which he questions the precarious implementation of the Peace Agreement with the FARC and the consequences of non-compliance with what was agreed.
