Caractérisation des antibactériens issus des actinobactéries terrestres résume les dernières pistes de recherche dans l'exploration des composés antibactériens naturels dérivés des actinobactéries du sol connues pour la synthèse de métabolites secondaires importants sur le plan pharmaceutique. Elles produisent environ deux tiers de tous les antibiotiques connus, dont plus de plusieurs milliers de structures chimiques différentes. Les Streptomyces du sol produisent 75 % des composés bioactifs commercialement et médicalement utiles, notamment des antibiotiques, des enzymes et des inhibiteurs d'enzymes. Compte tenu du spectre de résistance aux antibiotiques que présentent les agents pathogènes face aux antibiotiques existants, il est nécessaire d'explorer de nouveaux composés bioactifs provenant d'actinobactéries terrestres. Bien que l'environnement marin offre une abondance de composés bioactifs, l'importance de l'environnement terrestre en tant que ressource antimicrobienne ne peut être exclue.
