Gimena Romero is a Mexican visual artist born in 1985, known for her work in textile art, particularly in contemporary embroidery. Throughout her career, she has developed an artistic proposal that combines technique, memory, and emotion, using thread as a medium for deep and symbolic expression. Her work explores themes such as identity, the body, migration, trauma, and personal and collective history.

Trained in plastic and visual arts, she complemented her education at national and international institutions, and has consolidated an interdisciplinary approach that intertwines art, therapy, and research. Since 2008, she has made embroidery her main language, experimenting with materials like antique fabrics, hair, natural pigments, and altered photographs, and taking her works to exhibitions in America and Europe.

Besides her artistic work, Gimena is the author of several books that address embroidery from a technical, cultural, and creative perspective. She also teaches workshops online and in person, where she shares ancestral knowledge of traditional Mexican embroidery and promotes its contemporary reinterpretation.

Gimena Romero sees embroidery as a poetic and bodily act, a tool for healing, resisting, and narrating, and a way to reconnect with personal and cultural roots through manual creation.
