Synopsis "Building a new Citizenship in Mozambique: Rethinking Paulo Freire s Conception of Education and its Relevance to the Reality of Mozambique "

Problematization is a very important element of education because it helps students and citizens to constantly move towards ever new possibilities of existence and this can help them to accomplish fuller, healthier and more comfortable lives be it at the individual and/or community level. Such a situation is accomplished because in problematizing, they intellectually distance themselves from such situations so as for them to think about and improve them, and hence, become more human. In achieving this goal, education becomes relevant in that through the use of critical rationality it opens up a wide range of possibilities, opportunities and choices from which human beings can be and do what they value most so as for them to decide how they wish to live their lives and accomplish their dreams. This is why, in this book, I conquer with Freire that all education, in the broadest sense, should be part of a project of freedom and political emancipation for offering students the conditions for self-reflection, a self-managed life and particular notions of critical agency.
