Synopsis "Armando Dias Tavares: A bit of History and the Tragedies of Education: Educating to Overcome Barriers, Freeing Minds and Societies"

The work of Armando Dias Tavares in physics and teaching, witnessed in some of his speeches. His testimonies, his almost prophetic warnings and his perplexity at the continuing degradation of teaching in general are presented. The text is centered on short speeches, arranged chronologically according to his work, from secondary to higher education. His proposal for the correct teaching of physics is also addressed. Other testimonies are presented about the last teaching institution where he worked. The authors, sons of Armando Dias Tavares and also physicists, have witnessed much of what is presented in this book, through their experience and work in the same field. Thus, step by step, covering a time span of almost a hundred years, we can understand the calamitous state of culture in Brazil. Indirectly, through testimony, we come to the same conclusions as other authors: High Culture no longer exists in Brazil. In fact, not even the tolling of the bells is heard anymore and the victim can rest in peace.
