She thinks they will be there for ever. So, it's a bit of a mad surprise when a bunch of U.S. Generals turn up at Downing Street and offer to quit. What kind of game is this? What are they playing at? What are they hoping to gain? More important, for people in British Security like secret agent Mickey, can they even be trusted, or is this just another twist and turn in the international game of thrones that is known as the Cold War? Mickey wonders if such offers should even be taken seriously. But when the bodies start piling up, and people are getting murdered for no apparent reason, he is forced to knuckle down and start solving the latest in a long line of mysteries.
