Before starting to write, Parker-Chan was a diplomat and international development advisor. For nearly a decade, she worked for human rights, gender equality, and the rights of the LGTBIQ+ community in Southeast Asia.
Inspired by Greek myths, Arthurian legends, and Chinese tales full of suffering, tragedy, and romance, the author wrote her first novel, She Who Became the Sun. It is a work of historical fantasy that reimagines the rise to power of the Ming Dynasty.
