Mark G. Williams
Mark G. Williams is a British clinical psychologist known for his pioneering work in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), an intervention designed to prevent relapses in major depression. He was born in 1957 and earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Oxford. Throughout his career, he has worked at various academic and research institutions, including the Medical Research Council in Cambridge and the University of Oxford, where he was the director of the Oxford Mindfulness Centre.

Together with John Teasdale and Zindel V. Segal, Williams developed MBCT, a therapeutic approach that combines cognitive therapy with mindfulness practices to help individuals with a history of depression maintain their emotional well-being and prevent relapses. This approach has been widely adopted in clinical practice and has proven effective in various studies.

In addition to his work in MBCT, Williams has published numerous articles and books on clinical psychology and mindfulness, including The Mindful Way through Depression and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression. His contribution to the field has been internationally recognized, and he continues to be an influential figure in the research and practice of clinical psychology.
