María del Mar Galindo Merino
María del Mar Galindo Merino is a Spanish linguist, researcher, and educator specialized in applied linguistics, gender, and language teaching. PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Alicante, where she currently serves as a professor, she has focused her work on the intersection between language, identity, and education. She has been a visiting researcher at institutions such as Columbia University and the Sorbonne, and has been involved in international projects on gender and language learning. Her career has been recognized with the ASELE Research Award (2011) and the AESLA Young Researcher Award (2013)

Among her most notable publications is The Linguistics of Love: from Passion to Word (2022), a work she co-edited with María del Carmen Méndez Santos that brings together contributions from 22 specialists on how language shapes affective and sexual relationships. She is also the author of The Mother Tongue in the ELE Classroom (2012), focused on teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Her work falls within the essayistic and academic genre, addressing issues of sociolinguistics, gender, and language didactics.
