Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa
Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa (Palermo, 1896 - Rome 1957) belonged to an aristocratic family, participated in two world wars, and traveled extensively through Europe. He decided to dedicate himself to literature in the last two years of his life and wrote The Leopard, his only novel, published posthumously in 1958, awarded the Strega Prize and becoming one of the essential works of the twentieth-century novelistic canon.
