Gina Parody
Gina María Parody d'Echeona (Bogotá, Colombia, November 13, 1973) is a writer, lawyer, and Colombian politician. Her political career began in 2002, when she was elected as a representative to the Chamber, and in 2006 she reached the Senate, becoming the youngest person to hold this position in Colombia. She resigned her seat in 2009 due to ideological differences with her party. In 2011, she presented her independent candidacy for the Mayorship of Bogotá, finishing in third place.
Between 2013 and 2014 she was the director of SENA, and later held the position of Minister of Education of Colombia (2014-2016), from where she led significant reforms in the educational system before presenting her resignation. Gina Parody is also known for her personal life, which includes her relationship with Cecilia Álvarez Correa, former Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce.
In her role as a writer, she has published Mujer amurallada (2021), a reflection on the experiences of women in politics, and Él También lo Hizo (2023), where she addresses issues of ethics and power in the public sphere.
