Arnold Drake (New York, March 1, 1924 – March 12, 2007) was a prolific American comic book writer, known for his creativity and innovation in the ninth art. Throughout his career, he co-created iconic characters like Deadman and Doom Patrol for DC Comics, as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel Comics. Additionally, in 1950, alongside Leslie Waller and artist Matt Baker, he wrote "It Rhymes with Lust", considered one of the first American graphic novels

Among his most notable works are "Doom Patrol" (1963), "Deadman" (1967), and "Guardians of the Galaxy" (1969), all in the superhero comic genre. His work on "Deadman" earned him the Alley Award for best complete story in 1967. Moreover, in 1999 he received the Inkpot Award, and in 2008 he was posthumously inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame, recognizing his significant contribution to the comic book world.
