His work on "Deadman" earned him the Alley Award for best complete story in 1967. Moreover, in 1999 he received the Inkpot Award, and in 2008 he was posthumously inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame, recognizing his significant contribution to the comic book world.
