Marcello Musto es un académico y ensayista italiano especializado en historia del pensamiento socialista y en la obra de Karl Marx. Su investigación se centra en rescatar al pensador alemán desde una perspectiva rigurosa y crítica, alejándose de simplificaciones ideológicas y mostrando la vigencia de sus escritos en la comprensión del mundo contemporáneo. Ejemplo de ello es su libro Karl Marx. Biografía intelectual y política, 1857-1883, donde analiza en detalle los últimos años de Marx, destacando la profundidad de su trabajo más allá de los estereotipos habituales.

Además de su labor como investigador, Musto es profesor universitario y ha impulsado proyectos editoriales que ponen a disposición del público textos inéditos o menos conocidos de Marx y otros pensadores afines.
