Layne Staley (1967–2002) fue un cantante y compositor estadounidense, reconocido como una de las voces más intensas y emotivas del grunge. Nació en Kirkland, Washington, y alcanzó la fama como vocalista principal de Alice in Chains, banda clave de la escena de Seattle a comienzos de los años noventa. Su estilo vocal, oscuro y desgarrado, junto con letras cargadas de dolor, adicción y vulnerabilidad, definió discos emblemáticos como Facelift (1990), Dirt (1992) y Alice in Chains (1995).

Además de su trabajo con la banda, Staley participó en proyectos paralelos como Mad Season, donde exploró un sonido más introspectivo y melancólico.
