Al joven poeta de veinte años, Pablo Neruda, el éxito de los " Veinte poemas de amor " no se le subió a la cabeza. Por el contrario, persistió en la búsqueda de su mejor lenguaje posible, a través de la metamorfosis que su escritura atravesó desde 1924 hasta 1926. " Emprendí la más grande salida de mí mismo: la creación, queriendo iluminar las palabras " . De este modo, el joven poeta logró concebir para su nuevo libro un diseño que incluía como vertebración temática el itinerario de un " viaje nocturno " y, como forma, un lenguaje poético de intención vanguardista basado en la ausencia de puntuación y mayúsculas y dispuesto como una cadena heterogénea, deshilvanada, de sintagmas o segmentos yuxtapuestos en asociación más o menos libre o arbitraria, no desprovista, sin embargo, de una subyacente lógica discursiva.

Pablo Neruda (Parral, Chile, 1904 - Santiago, Chile, 1973), pseudonym of Ricardo Eliécer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto, was one of the most influential and recognized poets of the 20th century. His extensive work ranges from passionate romanticism to political and social poetry. Among his most celebrated books are Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair, Canto General, and Residence on Earth. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1971, his poetry has been translated into numerous languages and remains one of the most prominent voices in Latin American literature.
